Sky Academy
Sky Academy was formed in the year 350 (it is now the year 650) in response to a time when the darkness of ignorance spread across the land. There were four founders, after whom the four Winds are named.
Roze
Founder: Isabel Theresa Roze- The Dove for River Realm(The Doves were chosen by St. Michael to guide people to the protection of the Catholic Church, whether those people converted was their own choice, but most people found peace in the faith, and as such converted).
Color: Red- Students in Roze can wear any shade of red. Usually, the new students wear light shades, whereas the older students wear dark shades.
*Original accepted race: Human
*Personality trait: Those who have a creativity with the arts that is used to benefit others.
Hawkeye
Founder: Céilí Hawkeye- The ruling Fëanturi Hawk (Daughter of Giliath, the first Fëanturi).
Color: Blue- Students in Hawkeye can wear any shade of blue. Usually, the new students wear light shades, whereas the older students wear dark shades.
*Original accepted race: Fëanturi
*Personality trait: Those who have a ferocity, whether open or hidden, that is used for defense of self and others.
Mustang
Founder: Liam Mustang- The second-in-command of the Shapeshifters; under Lyall. Cougar.
Color: Yellow- Students in Mustang can wear any shade of yellow. Usually, the new students wear light shades, whereas the older students wear dark shades.
*Original accepted race: Shapeshifter
*Personality trait: Those who have a skill with weaponry that they use to intimidate others, whether knowingly or unknowingly, thus leading to much fighting because most people do not like being intimidated.
Havoc
Founder: Garrett Havoc- Leader of the Athan rebels.
Color: Green- Students in Havoc can wear any shade of green. Usually, the new students wear light shades, whereas the older students wear dark shades.
*Original accepted race: Athan
*Personality trait: Those who have a craftiness that allows them to both learn and keep secrets.
*If you will notice how the ‘original accepted race’ is listed, that is because the students were sorted into the Wind corresponding to their race. However, that is not the case now. Now, students are sorted based on the ‘personality trait’ listed.
The actual method used for ‘sorting’ is an interview with a Fëanturi Sparrow. The Sparrows can read what a person’s personality is like, and thus decide which Wind they would be in.
Purpose for the Academy
Sky Academy was created for students to learn an occupation which may or may not be the same as their parents. Any occupation ever thought of is taught at the Academy, though some require a longer term than others. Students enter the Academy near the end of their 11th year/beginning of their 12th. The first two years are spent with the other members of their Wind, for all of their classes. In the first two years, students learn a little bit of each occupation, or a majority of them at least.
At the end of two years, the students again meet with the Sparrow, and choose which occupation they would prefer, based on how much they like it, and how successful they are at it. After that, their classes consist of students following the same job, but the students still spend most of their out-of-class time with their Wind-mates. It is possible for a student not to choose a specific occupation after two years, but it would be a very rare occurrence (as in it has yet to happen).
The Academy has a different schedule for the students depending on either the parents’ job, or the students chosen job. For instance, in a family that runs a farm, help is needed during planting and harvesting, so the students would go to the academy just after planting, and leave just before harvesting, then return from harvesting until planting. The same goes for the other occupations, but it may not be quite that clear cut. For those whose jobs are not dependent on the season, they usually get out of class for the hottest and the coldest months (aka- Summer and Winter).
The shortest amount of time a student is in Sky Academy is three years, but most at least go for four years (making them 15-16 years old). The longest amount of time a student can be in Sky Academy is eight years (making them 19-20 years old). The chosen occupation determines how many years a student will attend the Academy. For some, the training is relatively easy, and thus takes less study, whereas others have more difficult training and thus takes more study time.
